Process
Who have we interviewed? We have interviewed a few owners, customers and students at our school. We will give you some people we have interviewed with their name, age and who it is. 1. Sander-13\14-Student 2. Katherin-38-Owner 3. Romy-14-Student 4. Pim van der neut-unknown-Teacher 5. Anna-21-Customer
(Daan)
For the Eateries project we focused on Schoonhoven. We did this by interviewing managers that have a restaurant here. The interviews were very nice and we learned a lot more about being a manager, what you need to do as manager and how the catering industry works. As far as we know Schoonhoven has about 30 Eateries where you can eat your snacks or eat a dinner with family or friends.
2. Identify the different kinds of food joints in your area. (Vegetarian, non-veg, fine dining, roadside, fast food, different cuisines, etc…) Photograph exercise. (Lynn) This is a snackbar called De Veerpoort. It serves fast food but you can also order vegetarian loempia’s.
This is a greek restaurant called Cyprus. It serves Greek food.
This is Eetcafé De Steenenbrug. You usually lunch here but you can also take someone to dinner here.
This is Fausto. You usually go to Fausto for breakfast or lunch and we asked some customers about the food. They recommended the tosti and the coffee.
3. What kinds of people frequent these joints? (Maureen) All kinds of people come to these eateries. Families with their children, adults, older people and teenagers. You see that teenagers mostly go to the snack bars or places where you can order fast food.. Adults and older people mostly go to restaurants where they also have other kinds of food. 4. Are the people of your region satisfied with the various eateries and their menu? Why / Why not? Research Survey must include people of different income groups and age groups (Lynn,Isabel,Maureen)
We asked people in our school two questions. 1= Are you satisfied with the different eateries in Schoonhoven? And 2= Which restaurant would you like to have in schoonhoven. On the first question everyone answered yes, but on the second question there were different answers. Most people wanted a Mcdonalds, but some people people wanted a KFC, burger king or Bregje. 5. Does your school have a canteen/cafeteria? If yes, is the food hygienic? Does it require improvement? Why? If no, is there a need for one? Why? (Isabel) Yes, at our school we have a canteen! They sell sandwiches, drinks and on thursday they always have a special offer like sandwiches with frankfurters. I think the canteen is really hygienic because it gets cleaned after every break. I don’t think it needs improvement because I think it is perfect! We also asked other students and they also think that is is hygienic and that the food is nice. 6. At the end of the article the students will draw a conclusion, including a recommendation for the owners of the eateries (Daan) Yes, we interviewed people we know and they all told us they were happy with the amount of eateries and all sorts of eateries, they told us that there were enough places to buy clothes, snacks, food etc. Some people we interviewed were happy that the shopping street is close to their house. Some of them don’t because they live in Bergambacht or Lopik.
